How it works

  1. 1Choose your PDF. All pages open in the editor.
  2. 2Pick a tool: Text, Image, Rectangle, Ellipse, Line, Draw, Highlight or Cover. Click or drag on the page to add it.
  3. 3Choose Select to move an item, drag its corner to resize it, or press Delete to remove it. Change colour and size from the toolbar.
  4. 4Select Save PDF and download the edited copy.

What the options do

Select
Moves and resizes items you added. On a phone, use Select to scroll the page; the other tools capture your finger so you can draw.
Text
Click where the text should start, type, then click away. Drag the corner to set the line width. Choose size, font, colour and bold.
Image
Adds a picture from your device, for example a logo or a stamp. PNG keeps transparency.
Rectangle, Ellipse, Line, Draw
Shapes and freehand lines with your colour and line width. Rectangles and ellipses can be filled.
Highlight
A see-through colour band over text, like a marker pen. The text underneath stays readable.
Cover
A solid block, white by default, that hides what is below it on the page. It covers; it does not delete. For removing private information for good, use Redact PDF.

Privacy

This tool runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to a server.

Questions people ask

Can I change the text that is already in the PDF?

No. This editor adds things on top of the page. It cannot rewrite the existing words. To fix a word, put a Cover block over it and type the new word on top. If you need real text editing, use the program the document came from.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is drawn and edited in your browser, and the new file is made on your device.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Use Select to scroll and zoom the page. Pick a drawing tool to draw with your finger. The corner handles are large enough to drag with a thumb.

Will the added text be selectable and searchable?

Yes for letters of the Latin alphabet: they are saved as real text. For other alphabets such as Bangla, Arabic or Cyrillic the text is saved as a sharp picture, so it looks right but cannot be selected.

Does Cover remove the hidden text?

No. The words under a Cover block are still in the file, and someone could copy them. Use Redact PDF to remove them for good.

Will forms and links still work?

Yes. The original pages are kept and your additions are drawn on top, so form fields, links and bookmarks remain. Use Fill PDF forms to fill form fields.
