How it works

  1. 1Choose one or many images, or drag them onto the page.
  2. 2Set the quality and, if you like, a new format or a smaller longest side.
  3. 3Select Compress images and compare the size of each file before and after.
  4. 4Download each image, or all of them as one ZIP.

What the options do

Output format
Keep each image in its own format, or convert to JPG or WebP. WebP is usually the smallest for photos.
Quality
Lower quality gives a smaller file. Around 75 is a good balance for photos. PNG is lossless, so quality does not change a PNG that stays a PNG.
Longest side
Shrinks big photos so the longest side is no more than the size you pick. Phone photos often shrink a lot at 2560 or 1920 pixels.
Rotate
Turns the selected images before compressing.

Questions people ask

Are my images uploaded?

No. Compression runs in your browser. Your photos never leave your device.

How much smaller will my images get?

Photos often shrink by half or more. Screenshots and graphics saved as PNG shrink less unless you convert them to WebP. The result list shows the exact saving for every file.

Will quality get worse?

JPG and WebP are lossy, so there is some change. At quality 70 to 80 most people cannot see a difference on a screen. Lower the quality only until it still looks right to you.

What if the result is bigger than the original?

It happens with files that are already well compressed. In that case ToolsMaxxing keeps your original file and says so.

Does it remove photo metadata?

Yes. Re-encoding drops EXIF data such as location and camera details, which also makes files smaller.

Can I compress many images at once?

Yes. Add as many as your device can handle and download them together as a ZIP.
