What the options do

MP3
Plays everywhere. Good for music and speech at 128 to 192 kbps.
WAV
Uncompressed and lossless. The files are large, and it suits editing.
M4A (AAC)
Often sounds better than MP3 at the same size. Native on Apple devices and works on most others.
OGG
An open format with good quality for its size, used in games and on the web.
Quality
The bitrate for MP3, M4A and OGG. Higher is better sound and a bigger file. 192 kbps is a good balance.

Questions people ask

Are my files uploaded?

No. Conversion runs in your browser with a WebAssembly build of ffmpeg. Your audio stays on your device.

Will converting lower the quality?

Going from a compressed format such as MP3 to another compressed format loses a little more detail each time. Converting to WAV does not add loss, but it cannot restore what was lost before.

Why does it take a moment to start?

The converter is about 30 MB and downloads the first time you use an audio or video tool. After that your browser keeps it.

Can I convert a video file to audio?

Yes, it works with the sound track of most video files, though Video to MP3 is made for that.

How many files can I add?

As many as your device can handle, each up to 300 MB. They are converted one after another.
