How it works

  1. 1Choose a video, or drag it onto the page. Files up to 300 MB are accepted.
  2. 2Pick the new shape: 9:16 for Reels, Shorts and Stories, 1:1 for square posts, 4:5 for portrait posts, 16:9 for widescreen.
  3. 3Choose how to fill the frame: a blurred copy of the video, plain colour bars, or a crop.
  4. 4Select Change aspect ratio and download the MP4.

What the options do

Blurred background
The whole video sits in the middle, over a blurred, enlarged copy of itself. This is the usual look for vertical posts made from wide videos.
Colour bars
The whole video sits in the middle on a flat colour of your choice.
Crop to fill
Fills the whole frame and trims what does not fit from the sides or the top and bottom.
Quality
HD uses a short side of 720 pixels. Full HD uses 1080 and takes about twice as long.

Privacy

Questions people ask

Is my video uploaded?

No. The video is reframed in your browser with a WebAssembly build of ffmpeg. It stays on your device.

Which shape should I choose?

9:16 for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Stories. 1:1 and 4:5 for feed posts. 16:9 for YouTube and most screens.

Does the sound stay?

Yes. The sound is kept.

How long does it take?

The video is re-encoded on your device, so expect a few times the length of the video. The progress shows as a percentage.

What sizes do I get?

At HD: 1280 x 720 for 16:9, 720 x 1280 for 9:16, 720 x 720 for 1:1 and 720 x 900 for 4:5. Full HD is 1.5 times larger.

How big a video can I use?

Up to 300 MB. Phones have less memory than computers, so keep videos below about 100 MB there.
