What the options do

Waveform and handles
The picture shows how loud the audio is over time. Drag the left handle for the start and the right handle for the end, or drag inside the selection to move it.
Fade in and fade out
Raises the volume from silence at the start and lowers it to silence at the end, so the cut does not sound abrupt.
Save as
MP3, WAV, M4A or OGG. For a ringtone choose M4A for iPhone or MP3 for Android, and keep it to 30 seconds or less.

Privacy

The audio is cut by a converter running inside your browser. It is never uploaded to a server.

Questions people ask

Is my audio uploaded?

No. The audio is cut in your browser with a WebAssembly build of ffmpeg. It stays on your device.

How do I make a ringtone?

Select the part you like, up to 30 seconds, add a short fade out, and save as M4A for iPhone or MP3 for Android. Then set it as the ringtone in your phone settings.

Why is there no waveform?

Some formats cannot be drawn by your browser, and very large files are skipped to save memory. The sliders still work and the cut is the same.

Is the cut exact?

The cut follows your times closely. The sound is encoded again, so there is a tiny difference from the original at the edges.

Why does it take a moment to start?

The converter is about 30 MB and downloads the first time you use an audio or video tool. After that your browser keeps it.
