What the options do
- PNG
- Lossless and widely supported. The file is often larger than the JPG because PNG does not discard detail.
- WebP
- Usually smaller than JPG at the same look. Supported by all current browsers.
- AVIF
- Often the smallest of all at the same look. It takes longer to create, and very old software may not open it.
- GIF
- A single still frame limited to 256 colours. Use it only when you need a GIF file; photos lose smooth colour. To make an animation, use GIF maker.
- Quality
- For WebP and AVIF. Lower gives a smaller file with more visible loss.

Are my images uploaded?
No. Everything is converted in your browser. Your photos never leave your device.
Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?
No. The PNG keeps exactly what the JPG shows, but it cannot bring back detail the JPG already lost. It can only avoid more loss.
Why is my PNG bigger than the JPG?
PNG is lossless, so photos take much more space than in JPG. For a smaller file, choose WebP or AVIF.
Why does AVIF take longer?
AVIF is made by a WebAssembly encoder that works hard to make small files. A large photo can take several seconds.
Does it work with other image types?
Yes. PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF and BMP images can be converted too.
