What the options do

Shape of the crop
Free lets you draw any rectangle. A ratio such as 4:5 locks the shape while you resize. Original keeps the shape of the full picture.
Output format and quality
Keep the image format or save as JPG, PNG or WebP. Quality applies to JPG and WebP.

Questions people ask

Is my image uploaded?

No. The crop is made in your browser. The picture never leaves your device.

Does cropping lower the quality?

The cropped area keeps its original pixels. A PNG stays lossless. For JPG and WebP, the file is saved again, so use quality 90 or higher to keep it looking the same.

Which ratio should I use for social media?

1:1 suits profile pictures and square posts, 4:5 suits portrait posts, 16:9 suits video thumbnails and 9:16 suits stories and Reels.

Can I crop several images at once?

This tool crops one image at a time so you can place the box carefully. To get many images to the same size, use Resize images with the Fill and crop preset.

Will the crop be saved upright if my phone photo is sideways?

Yes. The picture is shown and saved the right way up.
