Questions people ask

Why does it say my URL is not complete?

A URL needs a protocol such as https://. Text like example.com/page is a host and path but not yet a URL. Add the protocol in front.

What is the difference between host and hostname?

The hostname is only the domain, for example shop.example.com. The host adds the port when one is given, for example shop.example.com:8443.

How are repeated query keys shown?

Each occurrence is listed on its own line in order, so tag=green and tag=organic appear as two entries.

Is the fragment sent to the server?

No. The part after # is handled only by the browser, which is why it is not in server logs.

Are passwords in a URL shown?

The username is shown. A password is only reported as present, so it is not printed on screen by accident. Avoid putting passwords in URLs at all.
