How it works

What the options do
- Square size
- 1080 by 1080 is the usual Instagram size. Larger sizes keep more detail for print or zoom.
- Fill the empty space with
- White, black, a custom colour from a code such as #f4e9d8, or a blurred and enlarged copy of the photo.
- Space around the photo
- Shrinks the photo to leave an even border, from 0 to 20 percent.

Questions people ask
Does the photo get stretched?
No. It keeps its shape and is scaled to fit inside the square. Only the empty space is filled.
What is the best fill?
White or black look clean. A blurred copy looks natural for photos. Pick a brand colour for a consistent feed.
Can I do many photos at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like and each becomes its own square. Download them together as a ZIP.
Why is my colour code rejected?
It needs six hexadecimal digits, with or without the # sign, for example f4e9d8.
Does Instagram still need squares?
No. It supports portrait and landscape posts. Squares are still handy for a tidy grid and for platforms that crop to square.
