How it works

  1. 1Choose your PDF.
  2. 2Type the watermark text, for example DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL.
  3. 3Set size, opacity, rotation and colour, and choose which pages to stamp.
  4. 4Select Add watermark and download the new PDF.

What the options do

Layout
Centre puts one large stamp in the middle of each page. Repeated tiles the text across the whole page.
Text size
Height of the letters in points. Around 72 gives a bold stamp on an A4 page.
Opacity
How strongly the watermark shows. Low values keep the page text easy to read behind it.
Rotation
Straight, diagonal in either direction, or upright. A diagonal watermark is the classic look.
Apply to
All pages, only odd or even pages, or a custom list such as 2-5, 8.

This tool runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to a server.

Questions people ask

Is my document uploaded?

No. The watermark is added in your browser and the file stays on your device.

Can the watermark be removed again?

It is drawn on top of the page content as ordinary text, so someone with a PDF editor could take it away. Do not rely on it as protection.

Can I use accented letters or other alphabets?

Western European letters such as é and ü work. Alphabets outside that range, for example Arabic, Bengali or Chinese, cannot be drawn with the built-in font and the tool will tell you.

Will the text of my PDF still be selectable?

Yes. The original text and images are not changed. The watermark is added as an extra layer.

Does it work with rotated pages?

Yes. The watermark follows the way each page is displayed, so it reads upright on landscape and rotated pages.
