What the options do

Position
Top or bottom, left, centre or right, about 10 mm from the edge of the page.
Format
Just the number, "Page 1", "Page 1 of 10", or "1 / 10". The total is the last number used.
First number
The number given to the first numbered page. Use a higher number when this PDF continues another document.
Apply to
All, odd, even or chosen pages. Numbering counts only the pages you pick: choose 2- and the second page becomes number 1.
Text size and colour
Small black or gray numbers look neat in a margin. Make them larger if the document will be printed small.

Questions people ask

Is the PDF uploaded?

No. Numbers are written to the PDF in your browser, on your device.

How do I skip the cover page?

Choose "Pages I choose", type 2- and set the first number to 1. The second page of the file then shows 1.

Can numbers overlap my text?

The numbers sit about 10 mm from the page edge. If your pages have very small margins, use a smaller size or the other end of the page.

Do scanned pages work too?

Yes. The number is added on top of the page, whatever is on it.

Does it handle landscape or rotated pages?

Yes. Numbers follow the way each page is displayed, so they appear in the right corner.

Can I use a different alphabet?

Western European letters work. Other alphabets cannot be drawn with the built-in PDF font.
