How it works
- 1Choose your PDF.
- 2Type text in any of the six boxes: header or footer, left, centre or right.
- 3Use {page}, {pages} and {date} where you want the page number, page count or today's date.
- 4Select Add header and footer and download the file.
What the options do
- Six positions
- Leave a box empty to skip that position. Text in the middle is centred on the page.
- Tokens
- {page} becomes the number of each page, {pages} the total and {date} the date today in your own format. Turn tokens off to print the curly brackets as typed.
- Text size and colour
- Small gray text keeps the header quiet. Choose black for printing.
- Apply to
- All pages, odd or even pages, or a list such as 2-10.

This tool runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to a server.
Questions people ask
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Text is added in your browser and your file never leaves your device.
What if the header is too long?
Long text can run past the edge of the page or into the text beside it. Move part of it to another position or make the text smaller.
Can I add a logo?
Not in this tool. It adds text only.
Can I show different text on odd and even pages?
Run the tool twice, once with "Odd pages" and once with "Even pages", using the output of the first run for the second.
Can I change the font?
The text uses one clean built-in font so the PDF stays small and opens anywhere.
