QR code generator

Make a QR code for a link, text, Wi-Fi, email, phone, SMS or contact, with your colours and logo.

Higher survives more damage but makes a denser code.

Static code: the content is fixed inside the image, so it never expires. Test it with your phone before printing.

Your files stay on your device

How it works

  1. 1Choose what the code holds: a link, text, Wi-Fi, email, phone, SMS or contact.
  2. 2Fill in the details. The code updates as you type.
  3. 3Set colours, size and, if you like, add a logo in the centre.
  4. 4Download the PNG or SVG, then scan the code with a phone before you print it.

What the options do

Dark and light colour
Keep the code clearly darker than its background. Low contrast or inverted codes fail on many scanners.
Size
The PNG size in pixels. For print, use 1024 or more. The SVG scales to any size.
Quiet border
Empty margin around the code. Four modules is the standard and scanners rely on it.
Error correction
How much of the code can be damaged or covered and still scan. Higher levels make a denser code.
Logo
Placed over the centre. High error correction is switched on automatically to make up for the covered area.
Rounded dots
A softer look for the PNG. The SVG always uses square modules for the most reliable scan.

Privacy

Everything is made in your browser. What you type is never sent to a server. Wi-Fi passwords and contact details stay on your device.

Questions people ask

Is this a static or a dynamic QR code?

Static. The content is written straight into the image, so it works forever and has no scan limit. You cannot change where it points after printing. Dynamic codes with editable targets and scan counts are planned as a Pro feature.

Will the code expire?

No. It contains the data itself and does not depend on our website.

Why will my code not scan?

The usual causes are low contrast, an inverted colour scheme, a logo that is too large, a border that is too small, or a code printed too small. Test with a phone at the final size.

How do I make a Wi-Fi QR code?

Choose Wi-Fi, enter the network name and password, and select the security type. Phones that scan it offer to join the network.

Can I use it commercially?

Yes. The codes you create are yours to use on packaging, menus, posters and cards.

What is the most data a QR code can hold?

Several thousand characters, but a long text makes a dense code that is hard to scan. A short link scans best.
