How it works

  1. 1Add two PDFs. Put the original first and the changed version second.
  2. 2Choose whether to ignore case and extra spaces.
  3. 3Select Compare PDFs.
  4. 4Read the side-by-side report on the page, or download it as a file.

What the options do

Ignore upper and lower case
Treats "Total" and "total" as the same, so only real wording changes are flagged.
Ignore extra spaces
Different spacing or line breaks alone are not counted as a change. This is on by default.

Questions people ask

Are my files uploaded?

No. Both PDFs are read and compared in your browser. The report is built on your device.

What exactly is compared?

The text on each page, line by line, with changed words highlighted. Pictures, colours, fonts and layout are not compared.

Can it compare scanned documents?

Not yet. Scans are pictures of text, and reading them needs OCR. You will see a clear message if there is no selectable text.

What if the second version has extra pages?

Pages that exist only in one file are listed and marked as such. Pages are matched by their number.

What if text moved to another page?

Then both pages show as changed, because pages are compared by number. Read the highlighted lines to see where the text went.

How do I keep the report?

Select Download to save it as an HTML file you can open in any browser and share.
