What the options do

What to save
Pictures inside the PDF gives you the image files stored in the document, at their own pixel size. Whole pages as images draws each page like a screenshot, text included.
Image format
PNG is lossless and keeps transparency. JPG is smaller and good for photos; transparent areas become white.
JPG quality
Higher means a better picture and a bigger file. 92 is a good everyday value.
Skip small pictures
Many PDFs hold dozens of tiny images such as bullets, lines and logos. Choose a size to leave them out.
Page sharpness
For whole pages: how many dots per inch each page is drawn at. 150 is fine for screens, 300 for printing.
Apply to
All pages, odd or even pages, or a list like 2-5.

Questions people ask

Are my files uploaded?

No. The PDF is read in your browser and the pictures are made on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Are the pictures at the original resolution?

Yes. Each picture is saved with the same width and height in pixels as it has inside the PDF, not as it appears on the page. If you choose JPG, the file is encoded again at the quality you set; choose PNG for an exact copy of the pixels.

Why did I get fewer pictures than I can see on the page?

Vector drawings, charts and text are not pictures, so they are not extracted. Use "Whole pages as images" if you want everything on the page. Pictures that are only a stencil mask are also skipped.

A picture appears on many pages. Do I get it many times?

No. A picture that is stored once and reused, such as a logo, is saved once, for the first page that uses it.

It found nothing in my scanned PDF.

Scans are usually one big picture per page, so you should get one image per page. If you get none, the PDF may draw its pages in a way that is not a plain picture. Try "Whole pages as images".

Can I extract from a password-protected PDF?

First remove the password with the Unlock PDF tool, if you have the right to, and then extract the pictures.
