How it works

  1. 1Choose a photo of the person looking straight at the camera, on a plain light background.
  2. 2Pick the country and use. Move and resize the crop box so the head sits inside the oval and the eyes on the line.
  3. 3Choose One photo, or a sheet that repeats the photo as many times as fit on 4 x 6 inch or A4 paper.
  4. 4Select Make photo, download it and print at 100% size.

What the options do

Country and use
Common published sizes in millimetres: Bangladesh passport 45 x 55 and visa 40 x 50, India and United States 51 x 51 (2 x 2 inch), United Kingdom and Schengen 35 x 45, Canada 50 x 70, China visa 33 x 48. Choose Custom for anything else.
Head and eye guides
An oval and an eye line that show a typical head position. The rules differ by country, so treat them as a guide.
Background colour
Fills any part of the crop that lies outside your picture. It cannot replace a background that is already in the photo, so take it in front of a plain wall.
Output
One photo at 300 pixels per inch, or a sheet with cut lines. The file carries its print density, so printing at 100% gives the right physical size.

Questions people ask

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Cropping and layout are done in your browser. Your photo never leaves your device.

Will my photo be accepted?

ToolsMaxxing gets the size and layout right, but acceptance also depends on the rules of the office: background, expression, glasses, lighting and recent date. Always read their current rules before you print.

Can it remove or whiten the background?

No. Take the photo in front of a plain, evenly lit light wall so you do not need to.

How do I print it at the right size?

Open the sheet in any photo app or print dialog and choose 100% or Actual size. Do not choose "fit to page". A 4 x 6 inch sheet matches standard photo paper.

What if the sizes for my country are different?

Choose Custom and type the width and height in millimetres from the official instructions.

Why is the result 300 dpi?

It is the usual print resolution for photo prints, and most passport offices ask for at least that.
