How it works

  1. 1Choose 2 or more pictures in the order you want them, or drag them onto the page.
  2. 2Set the time per frame and the width of the GIF. A preview plays right away.
  3. 3Pick how to handle pictures of different shapes, and whether it repeats or plays back and forth.
  4. 4Select Make GIF and download it.

What the options do

Time per frame
How long each picture stays on screen, from 50 ms to 2 seconds. 100 ms gives ten pictures per second; slideshows work better at 500 to 1000 ms.
Width
A narrower GIF makes a much smaller file. 480 pixels suits most chats and web pages.
Different shapes
Every frame takes the shape of the first picture. Fit inside keeps the whole picture on a coloured background. Fill and crop covers the frame and trims the edges.
Play forward, then backward
Adds a return trip so the animation swings back instead of jumping to the start.
Repeat forever
Turn it off to play the animation once.

Questions people ask

Are my pictures uploaded?

No. The GIF is built in your browser. Your pictures stay on your device.

Why is my GIF large?

GIF files are big compared with video. Fewer frames, a smaller width and pictures with flat colours all make a smaller file. For a clip, a short video is usually better than a GIF.

Why do the colours look different?

A GIF frame can use only 256 colours, so photos lose some smooth shading. Graphics and screenshots suffer less than photographs.

How many pictures can I add?

Up to 100. Very large frames need more memory, so lower the width on a phone.

Can I turn a video into a GIF?

Yes. Use Video to GIF for that.
