Base64 encoder and decoder
Encode text to Base64 or decode it back.
Create SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 hashes of text or of a file.
Type some text to see its hashes.
Your files stay on your device
Hashing uses the Web Crypto API of your browser. Text and files stay on your device.
The Web Crypto API deliberately leaves out MD5 because it is broken for security use. SHA-256 is the usual choice for checksums today.
No. Fast hashes such as SHA-256 are the wrong tool for passwords because they can be guessed quickly. Use a slow password hash such as Argon2, scrypt or bcrypt in your application.
Choose the File tab, pick the downloaded file, and compare the SHA-256 value with the checksum on the download page. If every character matches, the file is the same.
Usually a hidden difference in the input: a trailing newline, different line endings or another text encoding. A single changed byte gives a completely different hash.
The file is loaded into memory to be hashed, so the limit is your device memory. Very large files, past a few gigabytes, may fail.
