How it works

  1. 1Choose an image, or drag it onto the page.
  2. 2Drag on the picture to draw a box over each area to hide. Draw as many as you need.
  3. 3Choose Pixelate or Blur and set the strength. The preview updates as you go.
  4. 4Select Hide areas and download the picture.

What the options do

Pixelate
Replaces the area with large blocks of colour. It is the clearest way to hide text and faces.
Blur
Smooths the area. It looks softer than pixelation, and at low strength small text may stay readable.
Strength
Sets the block size or blur radius in relation to the shorter side of the picture. Use a high value for anything sensitive.
Output format
Keep the original format or save as JPG, PNG or WebP.

Questions people ask

Is my image uploaded?

No. The areas are changed in your browser. Your picture never leaves your device.

Can someone undo the blur?

No. The pixels in the saved file are replaced, not covered, so the hidden detail is not in the file. Use a strong setting for sensitive areas, since a very light blur on large text can still be guessed.

How do I remove a box I drew?

Select the X in the corner of the box, or use Undo last area or Clear all.

Does the rest of the picture change?

Only the selected areas change. For JPG and WebP the file is saved again, so use PNG if you need a lossless result.

Can it find faces by itself?

No. You choose each area by hand, which keeps the tool simple and private.
